Rev. Chris Murphy

Hi,

I’m Rev’d Chris Murphy, the Vicar-elect of Holy Trinity, Devonport.

I am married to Verity, and we have two sons: Josiah (3), and Jago (2); we’re also expecting a baby in January 2024!

We live in Cheshire in the United Kingdom but we’re aiming to move to Auckland in November this year. I am delighted to have been appointed as the next Vicar of Holy Trinity, and as a family we are looking forward to sharing our lives and the good news of Jesus with our new church family and the people of Devonport.

I’ve heard that Devonport has a reputation for maintaining a friendly and welcoming village atmosphere.

My hope is that Holy Trinity will play its part in contributing to this friendly and welcoming atmosphere and will serve the good of the community. Certainly, as a family, we want to immerse ourselves in Devonport life and explore ways to bring the good news of Jesus to the area.

I look forward to meeting you, but until then I will be praying and thanking God for you. I am thankful that God has called you to be a church family, that you are trusting in his goodness after the difficulties of the global pandemic, that you are meeting together in person week by week, that he has brought you through a vacancy with the help of Rev’d Warren, and that you are on the verge of opening your refurbished church hall. Praise God!

When we land we would love to host an open afternoon at the vicarage so that we can meet as many people as possible. In the meantime, if you’d like to get in touch then do email me at christopher.c.murphy@gmail.com and I’ll do my best to respond.

Grace to you and peace, Rev’d Chris.
